Privacy at BorrowNow

BorrowNow is a public beta operated by its site owner, Cody Yount. This page describes the information used by the current app. Updated October 6, 2026.

Account and profile information

Google sign-in is handled by Google and Supabase. The app uses your verified account identifier and email to recognize you. BorrowNow does not receive your Google password or access your Gmail messages. Existing email passwords are handled by Supabase and are not stored in BorrowNow’s borrowing database.

The app stores your chosen display name, city, bio, payment preferences, requests, offers, chat messages, return and payment confirmations, reviews, reports, activity updates, and whether you have read those updates.

What other people can see

Anyone with the link can see open requests, including your display name, city, pickup area, item details, reward, payment preferences, return time, rating, and approximate location if provided. Do not include a private address or sensitive information in public request text.

Borrowers can see the offers on their own request. A lender can see their own offer. The accepted agreement and chat are only shown to the borrower and selected lender through the app. Your account email is not shown to other borrowers or lenders.

Activity updates

Your activity inbox shows offers on your requests, acceptance of your offers, and messages in your borrows. These updates and their read status are displayed only to your account. In-app alerts appear while BorrowNow is open; the app does not send email or device push notifications.

Location and payments

Location is optional. Your device coordinates are used for distance matching; coordinates saved with a request are rounded to two decimal places. This is approximate and can still reveal your neighborhood. You can post without location permission.

BorrowNow stores which payment methods you accept and your personal payment confirmations. It does not collect payment app credentials, process transfers, or verify that a payment occurred.

Reports and owner access

Reports and help messages are only displayed in the owner’s report inbox. They include your account identifier, the reported request or person, reason, message, and submission time. The person you report cannot view your report. The owner can access stored app data through administrative tools for support and operation; the chat is not end-to-end encrypted.

Storage and cookies

Borrowing data is stored using the Site’s Cloudflare D1 database. Supabase provides authentication, and Google provides Google sign-in. These providers process information needed to run their services. Session cookies keep you signed in, maintain secure sign-in transitions, and remember that you signed out.

The current app has no advertising, advertising trackers, or sale of user information. The hosting and authentication services may keep operational and security logs under their own policies.

App analytics

BorrowNow records page openings, approximate visitor and visit counts, recent activity, and broad traffic sources such as TikTok or Instagram. Random browser and visit identifiers are stored in your browser to recognize repeat visits; they are not advertising identifiers. The app records verified account identifiers and account creation times to count signups. Only the owner can view the analytics dashboard.

Analytics does not store IP addresses, exact referral URLs, payment credentials, or chat content. Visits and page views are kept for 90 days. Signup counts use account records retained during the beta. Tracking respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Clearing browser storage resets the random identifiers. Your signed-in account remains separate.

Retention and your requests

App records remain stored during the beta unless removed during administration or following a reviewed request. Cancelling a request or signing out does not delete your account or borrowing history.

You can edit your profile in the app. To request access, correction, or deletion of your information, sign in and use Help & privacy requests. Requests require owner review; deletion is not automatic, and records involving other people or necessary for a dispute may require additional handling.
